For a Tillamook Bay Community College Student
The purpose of the scholarship is to raise interest in Captain
Robert Gray and the Pacific Northwest Trade in the late 18th
century.
Applications are available on line at

Notice of award is made
by May 15 to one Tillamook
Bay Community College student for tuition, books or fees at the Tillamook Bay
Community College, whose Power Point presentation illustrates
the best telling of the story of Captain Robert Gray and the
trade in the Pacific Northwest.
The requirements for the presentation include:
1)
A minimum of 8 minutes and not more than 12 minutes.
2)
Include title page, text, graphics, narrative and sound.
3)
The final page must include references used in the presentation.
4)
The narrative and text must be historically accurate and
politically correct.
5)
Slides are to include but are not limited to:

The purpose of the voyages
·
Gray's departure from Boston;
· the
long voyage at sea;
· entrance
into Tillamook Bay;
· Lady
Washington;
· Columbia
Rediviva
· effects
Gray's voyage had on American Indian Nations;
· American
fur-trade on the Pacific Rim;
· Grays
second voyage to discover the "Great River of the West"
·
The importance of Captain Robert Grays’ discovery of the
Columbia River
Museum staff will make the museum available for group or private
tours by appointment. Pictures may be taken in the museum.
The memorial fund will award one $1,000 scholarship for tuition
and or books and college fees at the Tillamook Bay Community
College. The Power Point Presentation must be
emailed to info@garibaldimuseum.com
by May 30.

made mid May to five seniors, from the Tillamook County, Oregon high
schools whose essays illustrate the best understanding of any number of
issues about Caption Robert Gray and the trade on the Pacific Rim.
Essays should be a minimum of 500 words.
